Driver killed in York County crash southwest of Rock Hill, trooper says

A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning in York County southwest of Rock Hill, officials said.

The crash happened before 8 a.m. on Gordon Road between S.C. 324 and Turkey Farm Road, according to Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The 2006 Honda went off the road and hit a tree, Miller said.

The area of the crash is in the Bethesda community. Gordon Road was blocked for several hours Friday until the wreck scene was cleared, the highway patrol Web site showed.

The York County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the driver who died.

The collision remains under investigation by the highway patrol and coroner’s office.

The highway fatality is the 39th in York County in 2021 with more than a month left in the calendar year, according to S.C. Department of Public Safety statistics. In all of 2020, York County reported 36 highway deaths, public safety department statistics show.
