One person was killed and another was hurt Monday in a crash in Lancaster County, South Carolina officials said.

The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. on S.C. 97, said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The driver of a 1995 Ford car died at the scene after colliding with a 2016 Toyota, Miller said. The driver’s name has not yet been released by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

A passenger in the Toyota was injured and transported to a hospital for treatment, Miller said.

The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol and coroner.

The fatal wreck is the second in Lancaster County in 2022, according to statistics from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
