A South Carolina woman has been identified as the person killed on her birthday in a York County crash, officials said.

Jennifer Timmons, 47, died in the crash at the intersection of Old Limestone Road and Meadow Road outside York, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said in a written statement.

Timmons, of Smyrna in western York County, turned 47 years old Wednesday, Gast said. Timmons died at the crash scene, Gast said.

The fatal collision happened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The area of the crash is near S.C. 49 north of the city of York.

Timmons’ car was traveling on Old Limestone Road when it was struck by another vehicle driven by a Charlotte woman, Miller said in an audio statement released by the highway patrol.

The other driver was hurt and taken to Piedmont Medical Center, Miller said. The other driver was cited for disregarding a stop sign, Miller said in the audio statement.

The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office, officials from both agencies said.

So far in 2022, eight people have died in crashes on York County roads, South Carolina public safety statistics show.
