Two local teens identified in unrelated fatal wrecks in Lancaster, Chester counties
Both drivers killed in unrelated, single car wrecks this week in Lancaster and Chester counties were teenagers.
South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fatal wreck at 8 p.m. Wednesday night in Lancaster County, and another at 12:15 a.m. Thursday in Chester County. The incidents occurred about 20 miles apart. Both involved vehicles running off the left side of the road and striking trees.
The Lancaster County coroner’s office named Dexter Goshorn, 19, of Lancaster as the driver in the wreck on Flat Rock Road near Three Cs Road just southwest of Kershaw. Goshorn was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by highway patrol and the coroner’s office.
Lance Cpl. Nick Pye with South Carolina Highway Patrol said the driver was in a 1998 BMW sedan when the wreck occurred.
The Chester County wreck occurred on Washington Street, near Sunset Avenue, just west of Great Falls High School. Chester County coroner Terry Tinker said Friday morning the driver was Kirsten Alysia Dash, 17, of Great Falls. Dash was pronounced dead at 12:48 a.m. on Thursday.
The 2015 Nissan sedan driven by Dash was the only vehicle involved when it hit a tree while traveling west on Washington Street. That incident also remains under investigation.
