Teen pedestrian killed, another injured after they’re hit by car in Chester, SC
A male teen was killed and another teen was hurt Monday night after a car hit them while they were walking on a Chester County road, police and coroner officials said.
The driver of the car was also injured, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The teen who died in the accident on Meadowbrook Road was 18 years old, said Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker. His name has not been released.
The other injured teen is 19 years old, said highway patrol Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway in a release. Both teens are from Chester, Ridgeway said.
A 2006 sedan driving north on Meadowbrook Road struck the teens around 7 p.m. as they were heading north on the road, Ridgeway said in a statement.
The teen who was hurt was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill for treatment, Ridgeway said.
The driver of the car, 64, was injured and taken to Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Chester, Ridgeway said.
The identities and conditions of the two people who were injured was not available.
The fatal wreck remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office.
