11 regional bands earn state awards

Eleven high school and middle schools bands earned Outstanding Performance Awards from the S.C. Band Directors Association for the recent school year.

Bands earn points in the marching band and concert festival competitions. They also earn points for the number of musicians who earn all-region or all-state honors as well as those who perform in the solo and ensemble competition.

High school bands honored were Clover, Indian Land, Nation Ford, Northwestern, Rock Hill, South Pointe and York.

Middle school bands honored were Dutchman Creek, Fort Mill, Indian Land, Rawlinson Road and Springfield.
