Rock Hill crews extinguish cooking-related fires, two injured

The Rock Hill Fire Department responded to two separate cooking fires Thursday, one of which resulted in two injuries.

The first fire was reported at 7:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Gentle Breeze Lane, according to Chief Rusty Myers. Three engines and one ladder responded to put out the fire, which caused about $10,000 damage to the home. No injuries were reported.

The second fire was reported about 9:15 p.m. on Graham Street and was caused by unattended cooking, Myers said. One person had smoke-related injuries and a second person was transported because of “stress of the event.”

Both people were taken to Piedmont Medical Center, and Myers said the injuries do not appear to be serious.

The second fire caused about $49,000 damage to the home, Myers said.

The Red Cross is assisting the family in the Graham Street fire.
