Wreck kills motorcyclist in York County

A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon after veering off of Twin Lakes Road in York County and hitting a ditch, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Craig Helms, 39, was traveling north on Twin Lakes Road about 4:20 p.m. on a 1996 Honda. The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle, the patrol said.

Helms was taken to Piedmont Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, said the York County Coroner’s Office Saturday.

The crash is being investigated by the Rock Hill Police Department.
