Former Florida governor and U.S. presidential hopeful Jeb Bush will headline a national security forum in Rock Hill next week.

Winthrop University is hosting the event at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 18. Admission is free and open to the public, but tickets, available through Event Brite, are required.

The event is organized by the South Carolina chapter of Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security. Bush will speak in the Richardson Ballroom of the DiGiorgio Campus Center at Winthrop.

Bush is one of 17 Republicans hoping to land the GOP’s nomination for the 2016 presidential race. He appeared in last week’s GOP presidential debate in Cleveland.

Bush is the third GOP hopeful to visit Rock Hill this month. Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin spoke to a crowd of nearly 500 at the American Legion on Sunday.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky appeared in Rock Hill on Friday for a campaign stop at Physicians Choice Laboratory Services in the Riverwalk Business Park.
