Suds for Riley: Car wash Saturday in Rock Hill to raise money for child cancer research
A benefit car wash in honor of Riley Friddle will be Saturday at the Dave Lyle Boulevard Chick-fil-A to raise money for child cancer research.
Riley died in 2007 at age 4 after fighting brain cancer. During her short life on Hope Street in Rock Hill, her parents, Andrea and Todd Friddle, shared with The Herald Riley’s journey and courage.
Riley was a huge fan of the Clemson Tigers and Bon Jovi and Tim McGraw – even appearing on stage with McGraw at a concert after coverage of her health became known nationally.
Riley’s family used much of the money raised during her life for hospitals such as the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte where Riley was often a patient.
All proceeds from the car wash go to Cookies for Kids Cancer, a childhood cancer research organization that provides grants to the country’s leading pediatric cancer centers.
Volunteers from the Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ and other organizations will hand wash cars from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Chick-fil-A in front of the Rock Hill Galleria.
