Duke, Food Lion partner with Red Cross for flood relief

Duke Energy and Food Lion have donated to the to American Red Cross Disaster Relief and to help those affected by flooding in South Carolina.

Duke Energy donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with the relief efforts in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Food Lion donated $25,000 for South Carolina relief to the American Red Cross.

In addition to the donation, Food Lion is accepting register donations to support Red Cross disaster relief in the wake of these floods and other crises across the country. Donations provide assistance such as food and water to victims of disaster. Customers can donate in-store at any Food Lion location through Oct. 13.

As travel restrictions ease, Food Lion is sending truckloads of priority items, such as water, ice, pre-packaged meals and snacks, canned goods, bleach and more, to its feeding partners in South Carolina: the Harvest Hope Food Bank and the Lowcountry Food Bank, and their associated feeding agencies.

Duke Energy has activated its matching grant program for employees, so that every dollar they contribute to the American Red Cross relief efforts will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the company.
