Emergency officials: 1 hurt after utility vehicle crashes in Lancaster County
A Monday morning crash in Lancaster County that caused a man to be transported to a hospital by helicopter is still under investigation, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 9 a.m. on S.C. 200 near Zion Road, about a mile and a half north of Lancaster.
A southbound Ford box truck ran off the right side of the roadway, struck several trees and overturned, said Lance Cpl. Gary Miller, a Highway Patrol spokesman. The driver of the truck, who was entrapped, had to be extricated and was flown by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. His condition was not available Tuesday morning.
Miller said it’s unknown if the 22-year-old driver was wearing a seat belt. No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
