Carolina Water Service rate hike hearing is Thursday

York County Carolina Water Service customers can weigh in on proposed water and sewer rate hikes at two meetings this month in Rock Hill and Clover.

The meetings are scheduled for:

▪ 6 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill

▪ 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Clover School District Auditorium, 1625 S.C. 55 East.

Speakers get three minutes, with all testimony given under oath. Commissioners who attend the public hearings will listen to customers who speak but will not answer questions.

Carolina Water filed June 20 for a rate increase for all S.C. customers. The average water and sewer increases are about 20 percent.
