Public meeting will give updates on Knowledge Park
What’s the latest on Knowledge Park? Members of the public will be able to find out for themselves on Thursday.
The Knowledge Park Leadership Group – a collection of business people who advocate for redeveloping the former Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. site – is hosting a community meeting to share information about plans for the raised factory grounds, also known as the Bleachery.
Business leaders will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the community room of the new Family Trust Federal Credit Union, 225 W. White St., in the heart of the Knowledge Park development.
The meeting will focus on transportation issues in the area. City officials in recent months have traveled to other cities to observe how their public transportation systems have impacted their economic development goals.
Organizers also hope to gather public input on the area’s transportation needs and how they can be met. Plans for Knowledge Park have long included a streetcar that could ferry traffic through the redeveloped area between Winthrop University and the downtown business district.
