Driver dies in Chester County ATV crash

A Great Falls man was killed Tuesday after crashing into a tree on his ATV, according to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.

Johnny McManus II, 43, of Holly Street in Great Falls, was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m., Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker said. An autopsy determined McManus died of head and chest trauma.

McManus was driving the four-wheeler near a railroad bed on S.C. 200 when he crashed into a tree, Tinker said. He was wearing a bicycle helmet, which is not “certified” for use on ATVs.

The Great Falls Police Department is investigating the crash.
