Rock Hill city manager gets new contract, performance bonus
The City Council gave glowing reviews to Rock Hill’s city manager in awarding him a contract extension and a bonus.
David Vehaun, entering his sixth year as the top municipal worker, received a public employee evaluation at Monday night’s council meeting, before council members approved a performance bonus that amounts to an annual salary boost of $8,133.
Vehaun will receive an additional year on his current two-year contract, pushing his term with the city out to 2017. He also receives a bonus in line with the incentive package for other city employees that will give him a new annual base salary of $188,843.
The city manager will have the option of moving 5 percent of his base salary into a deferred compensation plan, 1 percent more than Vehaun was entitled to the previous year. The city also will make a premium payment of $2,276 into Vehaun’s health savings account.
Mayor Doug Echols said the new terms were well-deserved. “Your overall evaluation was excellent,” Echols told Vehaun.
The new contract came into force with Monday night’s vote.
