With all precincts in, it’s clear: York County endorses $89M bond issue
After all precincts were counted on Tuesday, it was clear York County voters had endorsed a new $89 million bond issue.
Final results have yet to be certified. Municipal results will be certified on Thursday, the countywide $89 million bond referendum on Friday.
▪ Voters approved an $89.7 million bond issue to meet the county’s building needs, primarily improving courtroom security and constructing new office space.
- Voting Yes: 58 percent, 6,287 votes
- Voting No: 41.9 percent, 4,542 votes
▪ Guynn Savage became Fort Mill’s first female mayor, defeating fellow Town Council member Tom Adams.
- Savage: 60 percent, 575 votes
- Adams, 38.8 percent, 367 votes
▪ In Clover, Donnie Grice won re-election as mayor with a write-in challenge from council member Debbie “Pee Wee” Williams.
- Grice: 63.8 percent, 416 votes
- Williams (write-in): 36 percent, 222 votes
▪ In York, Mayor Eddie Lee will serve another term after he beat firefighter Dan Warren for the second time.
- Lee: 69.8 percent, 346 votes
- Warren: 29.4 percent, 146 votes
▪ In Tega Cay, with two seats on the ballot, two incumbent city council members lost their re-election bids. Newcomers David O’Neal and Ryan Richard were elected.
- David L O'Neal (w): 26.43 percent, 636 votes
- Ryan Richard (w): 19.41 percent, 467 votes
- Chris Larsen (i): 17.96 percent, 432 votes
- Ron Kirby (i): 14.46 percent, 348 votes
- Abigail G. Duval: 12.47 percent, 300 votes
- Lisa Marie Johnson: 8.15 percent, 196 votes
▪ Clover Town Council (6 elected):
- Jay Dover, 17.85 percent, 512 votes
- Todd Blanton, 16.74 percent, 480 votes
- Ann Harvey, 16.32 percent, 468 votes
- Wes Spurrier, 15.9 percent, 456 votes
- Amy Moses, 15.69 percent, 450 votes
- Debbie PeeWee Williams, 14.54 percent, 417 votes
▪ McConnells Town Council (4 elected):
- Bill Covington, 25.68 percent, 47 votes
- Kenneth Patrick, 24.59 percent, 45 votes
- William H Nance, 24 percent, 44 votes
- John Harshaw III, 23.5 percent, 43 votes
