Chester man dies after being hit by train

A Chester man died this weekend after being hit by a train while he was sitting on the tracks, according to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened about 4 a.m. Saturday on the CSX railway that runs behind the 600 block of Summersby Street, Coroner Terry Tinker said.

Jason Brian McCormick, 39, who lives on Summersby Street, was hit by the train. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. from multiple blunt force trauma, Tinker said. His death has been ruled accidental.

A spokesman for the Chester County Sheriff’s Office said media inquiries are being referred to CSX Corporation.
