Panthers fans already know it but, for anyone with an iPhone wondering who the No. 1 NFL team is right now, Apple’s Siri has the answer.

Ask Siri, the iPhone’s voice-command “personal assistant,” who has the best team and she’ll respond: “So far, the Panthers are first place in the NFL.”

The Carolina Panthers – enjoying their best season so far in franchise history – beat the Tennessee Titans Sunday, giving the team a 9-0 record. They’ll take on Washington at home Sunday.

After the Cincinnati’s loss Monday, the Panthers and New England Patriots remain the only undefeated teams.

Auction for Safe Passage

Local Panthers fans geared up about the team’s success this season can participate in an auction this week to support Rock Hill’s Safe Passage nonprofit organization and score Carolina memorabilia. The group’s annual sports auction features five Panthers items:

▪ Two tickets to Bank of America Stadium Jan. 3, the Panthers’ last home game of the regular season. They’ll play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

▪ A silver lithograph football with Coach Ron Rivera and players’ signatures

▪ A signed football by former Carolina tight end Dante Rosario

▪ A signed football by wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who is missing this season due to an injury

▪ A signed football from fullback Mike Tolbert

Other auction items include Clemson and USC memorabilia, Winthrop University Eagles items, Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Checkers gear, Harley Davidson items and gift certificates for local Rock Hill restaurants and area recreational activities. There are also several auction items signed by NFL players from Rock Hill.

Proceeds from the auction benefit Safe Passage, Rock Hill’s shelter and counseling services support organization for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The nonprofit serves thousands of people across York, Chester and Lancaster counties.

Bids must be made online at 32auctions.com/safepassage2015. The auction closes at 7 p.m. Thursday. A wrap-up event is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at WingBonz on Riverview Road in Rock Hill. Poor Man’s Fame will provide entertainment.
