Carolina Panthers or New England Patriots? York woman call cops after threats

An argument over who is the best of only two undefeated teams in the NFL – the Carolina Panthers or the New England Patriots – prompted a York woman to ask the cops for help.

The woman, 23, went to the York County Sheriff’s Office this week before the Panthers defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, telling officers that she “had been talking to a guy over the Internet and eventually by cell phone,” according to a sheriff’s report.

Their talk turned to football, the woman told deputies, and the man “got upset over her talking about the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots.” After that, she said, the man started to harass her, sending more than 100 text messages in just a few minutes and threatening to share her phone number.

A deputy left a voicemail on the man’s cellphone telling him to cease all contact.
