Lancaster Mayor Joe Shaw passes away at 81
A city administrator has confirmed the longest-serving mayor of Lancaster died Sunday.
Mayor Joe Shaw, 81, died Sunday morning, according to the Herald’s news partner WSOC-TV.
Shaw served as mayor of the city of Lancaster for 26 years.
He was born in Kershaw County on June 18, 1934. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Charlotte Mullis, a son and a granddaughter.
He had been an active participant in a number of civic organizations throughout the years, including the Jaycees, Civitan Club, Dixie Youth Baseball and the American Red Cross.
