Winthrop to award undergraduate, graduate degrees Saturday
Winthrop University will award degrees to nearly 400 undergraduates and graduates at commencement ceremonies at 11 a.m. Saturday at Winthrop Coliseum. Keynote speaker is Jo Koster, the 2015 Distinguished Professor.
Winthrop President Dan Mahony will preside over his first commencement ceremony since taking office in July as the university’s 11th president.
Mahony will present two awards: the new President’s Award for Academic Excellence for a student and the Kinard Award for a teacher. Political science professor Adolphus Belk Jr. has been named the Kinard Award winner in recognition of his dedication to his students and his commitment to his field of study.
