A bridge on Red River Road in Rock Hill that connects two of York County’s busiest streets is closed after support under the bridge washed out during heavy rains.
The bridge is over a creek near the Rock Hill water plant, just west of the Waterford Business Park. Officials have not given any timetable for when repairs will be made.
The road and bridge are state maintained, said Katie Quinn, a City of Rock Hill spokesperson.
Red River Road runs from U.S. 21 at the intersection of Celanese Road to Dave Lyle Boulevard. Drivers can access Red River Road’s businesses and residences, and Rock Hill’s River Park that sits along the Catawba River, from the south via Dave Lyle Boulevard. Drivers coming from the north can still access Red River Road up to the bridge from Cherry Road.
