SC man killed in Chester Co. crash, discovered hours later
A Columbia man was killed early Friday after his car crashed in Chester County, but the wreck wasn’t discovered until hours later, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 1 a.m. Friday on U.S. 321 near Old Columbia Road, Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker said.
Brian Anthony Hughes Hendrix, 35, of North Crossing Drive in Columbia, was identified as the driver and lone occupant of the 1997 Lexus sedan.
Hendrix was traveling south on U.S. 321 when the car traveled off the right side of the roadway, hit several trees and overturned, said Lance Cpl. Gary Miller, a spokesman for the Highway Patrol. Hendrix was not wearing a seat belt.
The wreck wasn’t discovered until daylight Friday morning because the car came to rest so far off the roadway, Miller said.
Tinker said Hendrix died instantly from blunt force trauma.
