Ted Cruz to take part in Fort Mill forum
A rising candidate for the GOP presidential nomination will appear in the Fort Mill area little more than a month before South Carolina Republicans go to the polls.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, will take part in a forum on Jan. 16. Free tickets for the event are available online.
The forum will focus on national security issues and is hosted by the group Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security. Cruz will appear at Morningstar Fellowship Church, 375 Starlight Drive, Fort Mill. The forum will begin at 10:30 a.m., and doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
Cruz has emerged as a challenger to frontrunner Donald Trump for the Republican nomination, polling second to Trump in most national polls and leading in most polls in the crucial early caucus state of Iowa.
The same group hosted a forum with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at Winthrop University in August, moderated by former ABC and CNN reporter Jeanne Meserve.
