1 person dies in head-on traffic collision in Lancaster County
One person has died after two cars on a Lancaster County collided head-on.
S.C. Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred at 7:20 p.m. Friday on S.C. 200. A 1997 Honda two-door sedan was driving west when a 2003 Honda traveling east attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and struck the other car in the westbound lane, according to Lance Cpl. David Jones with SCHP.
The driver of the first car was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead. The driver, who has not been identified, was not wearing a seat belt.
The second driver was also injured and taken to an area hospital. She was wearing a seat belt, according to Highway Patrol.
The incident remains under investigation by Highway Patrol.
