Wingbonz has expanded, opening a second Rock Hill location in the home of the former Long Branch night club on Riverview Road.

The new site, called Wingbonz Live, features music and entertainment acts, along with all of the popular food items.

“We do wings – for 20 years,” said Scott Howell, one of the club partners for Wingbonz. “We’re known for the size of the wings plus ... the fact that we make our own sauces and dressings.”

The popular restaurant remains on Oakland Avenue, but the much larger Riverview site gives the business a chance to venture into the live music scene.

Howell said they won’t “pigeonhole any music styles.” Musical guests will come from all genres from R&B, country, to jazz and rock.

“We’re aiming at a broad spectrum audience,” he said.

Wingbonz Live opened in December, and the first music events were held earlier this year.

“We took the last month of 2015 to ease into things,” Howell said. “We have all new staff, plus we’ve done renovations especially painting to lighten up the room and make it more inviting.”

Howell admits the new location is “a bit off the beaten track.” But he notes it’s near the Manchester area, between Cherry Road Park and the BMX Track.

“We’re looking forward to big tournaments to be a perfect draw for 200-300,” he said. “We’ll have to create some kind of destination personality where the live music is concerned.”
