Driver in fatal Lancaster County crash identified
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in Friday’s head-on crash on S.C. 200.
Raeford “Eric” Robertson, 64, of Tombeck Lane in Lancaster, died of multiple blunt force trauma at Springs Memorial Hospital on Friday, according to Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Karla Deese.
Robertson was driving west in a 1997 Honda two-door car when an eastbound 2003 Honda tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and struck Robertson’s car about 7:20 p.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. Robertson was not wearing a seat belt.
The second driver was injured and taken to an area hospital, troopers said. She was wearing a seat belt. Her condition was not available Tuesday morning.
It’s unclear what charges, if any, will be filed. The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
