Grandmother, 79, dies in Chester County crash

A Great Falls woman died Tuesday morning after troopers say she struck another vehicle in Chester County.

Estelle Waters Williamson, 79, died from head and neck trauma in the 7 a.m. crash near Richburg, according to Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker.

Williamson was at a stop sign on Lyle Road at SC 9 and reportedly failed to yield to the right of way. She struck a Ford pickup, said Lance Cpl. Gary Miller.

Williamson’s grandson was a passenger in her 2004 Kia. The child was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

The driver of the pickup received minor injuries and was taken to Chester Regional Medical Center.
