The state Department of Transportation will close Lincoln Road southeast of Clover for seven months while crews replace the bridge over Allison Creek.

Crews will close the road on Feb. 15, with plans to re-open it by Sept. 6, weather permitting.

Signs will direct traffic to Boyd Road and Jim McCarter Road South, while message boards also will alert motorists.

The DOT advises drivers traveling near the bridge construction zone to watch out for equipment and crews working in the area and to be on the lookout for signs warning of reductions in speed limit and other message board information.

Earlier this year, The Herald reported on the number of bridges in York, Lancaster and Chester counties identified by safety inspectors as structurally deficient or obsolete. That story and an interactive map of projects awaiting construction is available here.
