York woman, 72, dies in three-vehicle crash in Fort Mill

A 72-year-old York woman died Sunday morning in a three-vehicle accident at U.S. 21 north and S.C. 160 in Fort Mill, authorities said.

Mamie Miller was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:52 a.m. accident, said York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.

Miller was heading north on U.S. 21 and drove through a red light, according to Fort Mill police. Her car was hit broadside by an eastbound SUV on S.C. 160, police said.

The first two vehicles then smashed into a third vehicle that was waiting in the intersection to turn south on U.S. 21, police said.

One person in the second vehicle, and two people in the third vehicle, were taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Fort Mill police are investigating.
