Rock Hill man wins $100K from SC lottery

S.C. Education Lottery

A Rock Hill man won $100,000 through a scratch-off lottery ticket he bought at the Food Lion on Ebenezer Road this week, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I put my glasses on” to re-read the Queen of Hearts scratch-off ticket and confirm he had won, the man told lottery officials, who declined to identify the winner. He then called a co-worker to get another set of eyes on the ticket.

“I’ve never played,” the coworker said, “but the ticket seemed too good to be true.”

When the two friends returned to the Food Lion, employees there confirmed he had won.

As for his plans for the prize money, lottery officials said, the winner told them he “can’t think of anything he needs.”

Two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $5 Queen of Hearts game, which carries odds of winning of 1 in 480,000.

The lottery paid the Food Lion store a $1,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
