Driver killed in Lancaster traffic collision

A driver was killed in a traffic collision on S.C. Highway 903 near Lancaster on Thursday.

At 3:30 p.m., S.C. Highway Patrol responded to a two-car collision near Hilldale Drive. A 2002 Pontiac four-door attempted to pull onto 903/Flat Creek Drive from Hilldale and was struck by a 2004 Chrysler, according to Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Pontiac, who was wearing a seatbelt, became entrapped in the vehicle. Once freed, the driver was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital and pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Chrysler, a Lancaster woman, was also transported from the scene for treatment.

The name of the deceased driver has not been released. The incident remains under investigation by Highway Patrol.
