Driver killed in Lancaster crash identified

Authorities have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle collision in Lancaster County on Saturday.

James Edward White Jr, 24, was killed after a single-car crash in Lancaster County Saturday afternoon, Deputy Coroner Karla Deese said on Monday

The crash happened about 1:45 p.m. on Unity Church Road about 6 miles north of Lancaster, according to Lance Cpl. Gary Miller of the Highway Patrol.

Deese said medical examiners in North Carolina performed an external autopsy on White and determined he died of head trauma.

A 2011 Kia SUV was traveling north on Unity Church Road when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, Miller said. White, who was the only occupant, over-corrected, causing the SUV to go off the right side of the roadway, where it struck two trees and a fence before overturning.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. He were transported by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he died.
