Rock Hill’s Knowledge Park gets a tax credit boost
A Knowledge Park developer may get a tax credit boost after a City Council meeting Monday.
The Rock Hill City Council approved the developer’s application for a South Carolina tax credit for redeveloping the site of a former textile mill.
Sora-Phelps would qualify for credits under the Textile Communities Revitalization Act for its plans to build new housing, businesses and a sports complex at the former site of the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., also known as the Bleachery.
Knowledge Park got another boost at the same meeting when the city accepted a $134,000 check from Comporium to pay for infrastructure improvements in Knowledge Park.
Under a separate tax credit arrangement, the telecommunications company has paid around $1.37 million to handle water line and road improvements in the Bleachery area, as well as construction of a new water tower on West Main Street.
