Toddler dies after choking at SC day care

Authorities are investigating after a 1-year-old child apparently choked to death while eating lunch at a day care facility in Greenville.

Coroner Parks Evans tells local media outlets that Sydney Ryan Alongio of Greenville was reported not breathing shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The child was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour later.

An autopsy was scheduled Thursday.
