Power knocked out across much of northern Rock Hill
Many homes and businesses along Cherry Road are without power after a substation went down in Rock Hill.
A Duke Energy power station at Anderson Road and Mount Gallant Road went down at about 2:15 p.m., cutting power to much of the northern portion of the city. Rock Hill police officers had to direct traffic at several intersections where the stop lights went out.
The Rock Hill School District tweeted that its offices and some schools were without power for some time, and the city’s call system was overwhelmed with reports of outages.
Due to the large number of people trying to call to report outages, our phone system is very slow. Crews are responding. #Fridaythe13th

There was no immediate estimate for when full power would be restored.
