Authorities working to identify body found in Chester County

A body was found in Chester County late Saturday night near Pinckney Street in Chester County, officials said, but authorities have not yet identified the person.

More, authorities have not linked the finding of the body to a Rock Hill man missing since Monday who was last seen in the same vicinity.

The investigation into the missing man, Jamal Shabazz, remains ongoing, said Chester County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Robert Sprouse.

Shabazz, 34, was last seen on Pinckney Street in Chester late Monday, according to a release sent out by Chester deputies Thursday in an attempt to alert the public of Shabazz being missing. The police report filed by Shabazz's mother when he went missing stated he required medications and that he was last seen in the Pinckney Street area.

The Chester County Coroner's Office told The Herald Sunday the office does not have an identification on the body and an autopsy will be conducted Monday.
