Snakes caused power outage in Rock Hill
A pair of black snakes were to blame for Friday’s afternoon power outage that temporarily knocked out electrical service to thousands in Rock Hill.
Power was out for less than an hour, mainly in the North Cherry Road corridor. Officials went to a substation near the corner of Mount Gallant Road and Anderson Road that is shared by Rock Hill Utilities and Duke Energy crews found two snakes had caused the problem, according to WSOC, The Herald’s news partner.
Duke supplies power to the substation for city customers.
Power was restored in less than an hour. Slithering into a forbidden zone cost one snake – it was electrocuted. The other was captured.
