Rain cancels Rock Hill’s first Food Truck Friday of the season
The Food Truck Friday event scheduled for downtown Rock Hill’s Fountain Park has been canceled for Friday because of a rainy forecast, officials said Thursday.
The events that started in the summer of 2015 were successes with big crowds and live music. But several days of rain – with more expected Friday – prompted city officials to cancel the gathering and consider adding an October date.
“We know this event is a great way to spend a Friday night, but we’re afraid the wet weather would make for a disappointing evening for the attendees as well as the food trucks,” said Hannah Smith, the city’s downtown marketing coordinator. “We would rather delay the event to a time when everyone can really enjoy the experience with their friends and family.”
The food truck events remain scheduled for the rest of the summer despite the $1 million fountain that is the centerpiece of the park being closed for repairs.
The next Food Truck Friday is scheduled for June 17.
