Three kayakers rescued from Catawba River on Tuesday
Three kayakers were rescued from the Catawba River Tuesday night after getting stuck in the water, according to the Rock Hill Fire Department.
The call came in about 7:15 p.m. near River Park, according to Deputy Chief Mark Simmons of the Rock Hill Fire Department. Three kayakers were unable to get out of the water and were hanging on to tree limbs near Waterford Golf Club.
The water was apparently moving faster than the kayakers had anticipated, and they were unable to get to shore, Simmons said. Rock Hill firefighters brought the kayakers to shore with help from the York County Emergency Response Team.
No injuries were reported.
