Half-mile of Rock Hill’s East White Street to close for 4 months on Thursday

Drivers will have to find a way around a half-mile stretch of White Street that will be closed to traffic starting Thursday.

East White Street will be closed between Jones Avenue and Cummings Street/Workman Street so city and state crews can do extensive road work on the area. City officials expect crews to keep the area closed off to motorists for about four months, according to a Rock Hill city news release.

Work will include rehabilitating water and sewer infrastructure, installing curb and gutter work, storm drainage and sidewalk, as well as repaving that portion of East White Street.

Rock Hill is working with the S.C. Department of Transportation, Campco Engineering and Sealand Contractors on the project.

Detours will be marked. Local traffic and emergency services will be permitted and managed by the contractors, the city says. Contractors will work with each property owner within the construction area on a case by case basis to ensure access to their property.
