Interstate ramps to close at Rock Hill’s Cherry, Celanese roads

If you need to get onto Interstate 77 sometime in the next couple nights, you might want to avoid the Cherry and Celanese road connections.

The S.C. Department of Transportation will close the northbound on-ramp from U.S. 21 (Cherry Road) onto the interstate from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday for “high-friction surface treatment.”

The next night, the northbound ramp from S.C. 161 (Celanese Road) will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday for the same treatment.

DOT asks that drivers use caution in the workzone for the safety of the workers doing the treatment.
