Lancaster County names economic development head
Lancaster County’s new economic development department will soon have its first director.
The county announced Jamie C. Gilbert has accepted the post after receiving the recommendation of a county committee and being named by county administrator Steve Willis.
Gilbert is currently executive director of the Queen Anne’s County (Md.) Department of Economic Development. Gilbert previously held similar positions in South Carolina – Abbeville and Greenwood counties and the city of Columbia – and in Georgia.
He was one of four finalists interviewed for the job by Willis and the committee in May. He starts in mid-July.
Gilbert holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Clemson University. He also graduated from the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
