Identities of victims released in Indian Land double-fatal crash
Authorities on Saturday were continuing to investigate an accident that killed two people in a five-car collision early Saturday morning on U.S. 521, just south of S.C. 160.
The crash happened around 1 a.m., said Lance Cpl. Tony Keller of the S.C. Highway Patrol. Others were injured in the crash, but details regarding the number and extent of their injuries were not available.
The two people who died in the crash have been identified as Michael Reid, 29, of Lancaster; and Jacob Beasley, 28, of Waxhaw, N.C., by Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Karla Knight-Deese.
The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
There had been seven reported fatalities in Lancaster County so far this year, prior to this weekend’s accident, according to reports compiled from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
