A golf tournament fundraiser will be held Saturday at Waterford Golf Club to benefit a homeless shelter, created by a Rock Hill teen who died from cancer, and a hospital for children in Charlotte.

The 16th annual Charles Bailey Classic will give all proceeds to Emily’s House shelter in Rock Hill and Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

Entry fee is $300 per team. Hole sponsors are $50. Shotgun start is 1 p.m. Saturday. Food will be provided afterward.

Emily’s House is named for the late Emily Elkins, who died last year at 16. Emily became a figure for generosity after a donation jar for her cancer expenses was stolen. She had worked toward opening a shelter for homeless children and families before she died. The shelter now has a board of directors and a building in Rock Hill. It is set to open in August.

For information on the tournament, email David “Snuffy” Bailey at snuffy92001@yahoo.com.
