A West Columbia woman was identified as the driver killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 77 near Rock Hill on Wednesday, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

Amanda Craft, 33, was traveling north on I-77 near the S.C. 901 exit when she crashed her Chevrolet pickup into the back of a tractor-trailer just before 11 a.m., officials have said. She was taken by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where she died.

Craft turned 33 last week, according to information provided by the coroner’s office.

The tractor-trailer was stopped as traffic backed up from a roadwork farther north on the highway, troopers have said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol and the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office.
