A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she failed to stop her go-kart at a stop sign and was hit by two cars in north Charlotte Thursday night, police said.

Cierra was not wearing a helmet, police said. Medic took the girl to Carolinas Medical Center. The car drivers were uninjured.

Speed and alcohol were not contributing factors, police said.
