Officials: Tractor hits farm worker in Chester; injured man airlifted

File

A farm worker was flown to a hospital after being hit by a tractor in an accident Wednesday afternoon in rural Chester County, emergency officials said.

The worker was conscious but complaining of pain, so he was airlifted for treatment, said Ed Darby, Chester County Emergency Management deputy director. The victim’s name was unavailable.

The accident happened in Lowrys, just south of the York County line. The man apparently was trying to start an older model tractor when he was pinned under the machine, Darby said.
