Veronica Carlson, Olympic hopeful and wrestler, will be hosting a wrestling clinic for young athletes at Rattlesnake Wrestling Club in Fort Mill on Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m. The club is located at 2910 Old Nation Drive in Fort Mill.

The clinic is part of Dick’s Sporting Goods “Grit Before Gold Tour,” which is holding similar clinics nationwide.

Carlson will be demonstrating training techniques as well as sharing the story of her sports career. Children in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in some of the training exercises.

Carlson, who is currently sponsored by Dick’s , started competitive wrestling against boys in seventh grade. In the eighth grade she had already become Women’s Junior National Champion.

Most recently, she was living and training in the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., before moving to Rock Hill.

She hopes to represent Team USA at the Rio Olympics later this summer.
